Conchas Lake

           Conchas Lake may be just a lake, but it is also a place I can call my second home.  I've been visiting since I could  remember, every summer, sometimes 2-3 times a year.  Located in northeastern New Mexico, it is a beautiful reservoir, known for its clear waters and scenic surrounding, but known to me as a childhood memory that will forever be there.  Conchas Lake when at its fullest can reach 158 feet deep and surface area of 16,033 acres.  Conchas Lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and camping.  It receives quite a bit of rain throughout the year, which helps keep the lake full.  Right now it is reaching the emergency spillways.  The lake is surrounded by rolling hills and shrubs.  A local you will always find there are tarantulas, they are relatively nice unless you bother them, but for the most part they just crawl around.  Just don't leave your tent or RV open at ni...
